The Story Behind By Any Meanz Knee Protection Gear
The Story Behind By Any Meanz
It Started With a Problem That Shouldn't Exist
The workout was a standard HIIT circuit. Burpees, bear crawls, mountain climbers, box jumps. The kind of session that leaves you wrecked in the best way.
Except the knees.
Every time they hit the floor — every burpee descent, every bear crawl rep — there was that familiar sting. Not sharp enough to stop. Not dull enough to ignore. Just persistent enough to be a constant reminder that something wasn't right.
The gear was premium. The leggings were expensive. The knee sleeve was neoprene, the kind serious athletes use. None of it helped. Because none of it was designed to help with this specific problem.
That's when the question became unavoidable: why doesn't this gear exist?
The Search for a Solution
The search started where most searches start: online.
Strap-on knee pads. The kind construction workers use. They work on a job site where you're kneeling in one place. They don't work during burpees — they shift, they restrict, they fall down your leg by rep 10.
Built-in knee pad leggings. A few brands made them. The pads were sewn directly into the fabric. They degraded through washing. They couldn't be replaced. They sat in a fixed position that didn't align with every athlete's anatomy. And you couldn't remove them for lifting days when you didn't need them.
Thicker leggings. More fabric between the kneecap and the floor. Tested. Didn't work. Fabric compresses completely under impact. More fabric just means more compressed fabric. The cartilage still takes the hit.
Nothing worked. Not because the problem was unsolvable — but because nobody had built the right solution yet.
The Insight That Changed Everything
The solution had three requirements.
It had to stay in position during dynamic athletic movement. Strap-on pads fail this. They shift during burpees. They're useless by the time you need them most.
It had to be removable. You don't need floor impact protection during a deadlift. You shouldn't have to choose between a garment for lifting and a garment for floor work. One piece of gear should handle everything.
It had to be replaceable. Built-in pads degrade. When they wear out, you shouldn't have to replace the entire garment. Replace the pad. Keep the legging.
The answer was an interior zipper pocket built into the knee area of the garment. A foam pad slides in, locks flat over the kneecap, held in position by the compression fabric. In or out in 3 seconds. Washable separately. Replaceable when worn.
Simple. Obvious in retrospect. Completely absent from the market.
By Any Meanz Collective
The name comes from the commitment behind the brand. By any means necessary — whatever it takes to protect your joints and keep you training. Not by modifying. Not by scaling back. Not by accepting that knee pain is just part of the deal.
By any meanz.
We build gear for athletes who train floor-based movements and refuse to let their knees be the reason they stop. CrossFit athletes. HIIT athletes. Yoga practitioners. MMA fighters. Trade workers who kneel on concrete all day. Anyone whose training or work puts their knees in contact with hard surfaces repeatedly.
The removable knee pad system is the core of everything we make. Every product — leggings, training pants, knee sleeves — is built around the same principle: protect the floor contact phase, every session, without compromising the training.
The Mission
Most workout gear was built for movement.
We built ours for movement and impact.
That's the gap we fill. That's the problem we solve. That's why BAM Collective exists.
If your knees hit the floor, we built this for you.
